Hi …………for those of you that have missed the earlier posts on this subject, this is the advice, from our Caravan and Motorhome window problem site. Parksy has kindly posted the web address at the beginning of this thread
There are two distinct problems…………..DELAMINATION.
Delamination of windows manufactured between 1998 and 2006, caused by the wrong grade of screenprint being used. German manufactured caravans were subject to an ongoing safety recall, but so far UK manufacturers have not notified VOSA. We believe there is a serious safety issue and have contacted Swift and Polyplastic. We have received a reply from Swift.
We are asking all owners to notify VOSA using the following form…….
http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosa/repository/vehicle%20safety%20defect%20report.doc
This is really important, because your caravan/motorhome presents a significant safety risk to other road users.
If your caravan/motorhome is produced by Swift Group, please register with the Swift Talk forum on…..
http://www.swift-talk.co.uk/forum
and post your window issue, this will make sure Swift are aware of your problem
Please let us know how you get on, we can assist with any issues with the VOSA form and the Swift Talk forum.
The other problem……………..WINDOW DISTORTION AND RUBBING MARKS
On Caravans/Motorhomes produced between 2006 to present day. If you are experiencing rubbing marks in the window cavity and excessive flexing, you are subject to a manufacturing fault, which is being replaced by the caravan manufacturers. The mk1 window has been replaced by a mk3 window (the mk2 failed). This is a f.o.c. replacement and is not subject to any guarantee requirement.
Again if you are a Swift Group owner it would help if you register your complaint on the Swift Talk forum……….
http://www.swift-talk.co.uk/forum
Please let us know if you are experiencing any difficulties with replacement.
If you are members of the Caravan Club please inform them of your issues.................
Burstner Owners……….we are logging all reports and will keep you informed as our investigation continues.
Hope this helps………………..regards Andrew
