replacing plastic trim

like most other vans ours has alloy trims on the exterior similar to the awning rail these cover joints in panels etc.

Inserted into the channel in the trim is a plastic/rubber strip in our case in a white/ivory colour.in two different sizes It just finishes it off nicely. However ours have discoloured badly and let down the otherwise very good condition of the bodywork. I gather its just a case of unscrewing the end caps and sliding in a replacement. The thing is, can I cut out the middleman (expensive caravan spares dept) and get some direct from the manufacturers? I reckon it would take about 40 metres.

Any ideas?

Paul,

I was speaking with the man that valets the Eriba Touring caravans after their annual service, and he passed on a tip for the Eriba Owners Club:

To renovate the plastic trim (covering screw heads in the aluminium trim) take a rag and some white spirit. This works really well where dirt and grime have entered the top surface of the plastic trim. Usually precautions when handling / using petroleum solvents.

But if yours has really gone (Eriba plastic trim usually lasts between 20 and 30 years), then the trim does indeed just slide in and out of the rails.
