Hi to you all out there. This is a notification of a little known or used (by caravanners) just off the motorway; services/stop off.
M6 North & M6 South at J38 (Westmorland).This little hidden gem is open M-F from 06:30 - 22:30. Sat 06:30 - 19:00 & Su 07:00 - 22:30.
It has fuel & a shop open daily 24hrs.
The food is excellent with a good choice and very reasonably priced. It is a truck stop and has long bays and plenty of them. If like me you are height disadvantaged (4' 11" )you might struggle a little to get your ticket out of the "Cab Height Dispenser". I jump up onto the block type steps.

We have stayed overnight at the caravan site just adjacent to the services as we were en route to Northern Scotland. The services and farm shop were very good and we had a nice, if overpriced, meal in the hotel. In the services car park were lots of long bays for caravans but unfortunately the service staff did not police them and they were rather full of ordinary cars. The caravan site is all hardstanding with one area largely for overnighters and the rest looked like seasonal pitches, which I thought was very puzzling given the location. Perhaps they were mostly full timers rather than used for holidays. Surprisingly quiet on site despite the proximity of the M6.
