Hi All,

The family and I are travelling soon to Amsterdam via the Hull to Europort overnight ferry.

We are booked into a campsite just outside Amsterdam but cant check in until 1230pm. We will be off the ferry at about 9am so cant drive straight to campsite.

Any suggestions of where we can kill a few hours and get some food on the way up to the Dam with the van? Would be great not to just sit in a motorway services.

I don’t know, but I am sure someone will. Just a thought, is it possible to ring the site and pay extra to get there early. Would probably cost no more than what you would spend at a local attraction.
Have a great time. Been a long time since we were in the Netherlands but we always enjoyed it.

When I visited the Netherlands for work there were lots of parking areas in Schevenengin, some had motorhomes in them, but even then it was all paid for, virtually no street parking unless paid for. Perhaps if you don’t want to stop over in a motorway area, which would probably require payment over a certain time, diverting to a smaller town or village would be better. Picking up on Mel’s point pay for the preceding night then you can turn up at any time after the ferry has docked.

P s does your site have early arrivals area?

Delft is a lovely town, directly on your route and close to Europort. The issue is always going to be parking, wherever you stop. It's a particularly big deal in the Netherlands, where cycling takes priority (pay extra attention to that when driving). Delft centre is absolutely no go for cars, never mind caravans. But a great introduction to Holland for walking around and loads of cafes etc..
We stayed at the DelftseHout site a few months ago, which is excellent and within walking distance of the centre (or you can take a direct bus). If I was doing the same as you, I'd try giving them a call and seeing if they'd agree something reasonable for parking on site for a few hours (in Oct/Nov they are never going to be full).
