Restoration vs Replica

The Quest channel on Freeview are re-running episodes of The Caravan Show during which they are 'restoring' a Berkley Statesman double-decker caravan. From what I gather the only original parts that has been re-used are the axle, windows and light switches, all other parts have been replaced eg new floor, walls, roof, fittings, cupboards, stairs, electrics, gas, etc.
How much of an original item needs to remain to call it restoration rather than building a replica using a few original items?

Hi Woodlands,

Thats an interesting question.
Certainly where there is a vehicel VIN plate involved, the sectio ncarrying the VIN plate must remain intact, but as caravans are not registered in the same way i'm not sure how much or little needs to remain.

Im into restoration of old warplanes,Spitfires,Hurricanes, ectect. It seems now that as long as the Identification plate (VIN plate) is available then the resulting rebuild is a restoration,& the yanks are past masters at this
