Reverse Polarity Adaptor Lead

I am aware that i can probably make one of these leads quite easily, but can anyone recommend where i would be able to buy one from. can't seem to find one anywhere.

Any help much appreciated.

Hello Lee , try the equipment & accessories( polarity ) question , I am sure this covers all you requirements . Steve .

Hello Lee,

Reverse polarity conversters are one of those things that whilst being a valuable accessoriy for caravanners, they cannot actually be purchased.

You can buy all the component parts, but you cannot purchase it ready made up.

The reason is that all electrical appliances and extensions must be manufactured to comply with the wiring regulations. These stipulate that the polarity of any systems must conform the wiring standards. A crossed over assembly, would fail the test becasue the phase and neutral wires are crossed!

Like another commentator it would not be legal for these to be sold.

Make up your own short adapter by swapping the live and neutral in one of the plugs. You can cut a couple of inches off your mains cable to facilitate this. Then mark it clearly with a permananet marker (the type used to write on CDs or OHPs is ideal).

You may also need a continetal adapter, although more sites now use the euro standard 3 pin variety.

Keeping the lead short means that you could probably combine both without the plugs being in contact with the ground in use.
