Reversing Light

Hi,

just come back from our hols and noticed that when we put the car into reverse the fog light on the caravan comes on instead of the reversing light.

We recently had a tow bar fitted and wondered if something could have been connected up wrong. The light always worked with our previous car. The caravan was serviced recently and nothing was picked up then.

Don't want to go to the towbar place and look daft if its something simple.

Does the reversing light come on when you switch on the rear fog light? You may need to have headlamps on as well. The reversing light is on pin 1 of the 12S (Grey socket) but the rear foglight is on pin 2 of the 12N (black socket) so it's not easy to work out what's happened. If you've recently had the towbar fitted I'd take the car back and ask them to check it out. My guess is a fault with the 12S & 12N wiring, it doesn't sound like the van's at fault.

what car is it and did they fit a 7 way bypass relay if they did they probably got the fog and reversing light back to front..

yellow lead from the gray 12S lead is the reversing lamp

blue from the black 12 N lead is the foglamp all that should need doing is them been swapped over

but if you got a warranty with the tow-bar fitter take it back or you'll void it
