Hi am just looking to go to rhine in flames about september 15 anybody been would like some info
on sites ect and what area thinking st goar boppard area but am open to any sugestons. thanks in advance
freddie.
There's a camping site in Boppard, Camping Sonneneck and two in St. Goar, Camping Loreleyblick and Camping Friedenau. All are on the banks of the Rhine, so if you're lucky, you may get a pitch with a wonderful panoramic view over the river. I've stayed at Camping Loreleyblick and can't fault it, but, and this is something that applies to all camping sites on the Rhine, the valley in that section of the river is relatively narrow and main roads and railway lines follow its course on both sides, so don't expect any of them to be particularly quiet.
We have stayed at Camping Sonneneck mentioned by Lutz and there are some pictures in the link. http://www.davidklyne.co.uk/campingpark_sonneneck.htm
Would echo Lutz's heads up about the noise which we did find a bit intrusive although like anything you will get used to it in time! I don't have very fond memories of Sonneneck because as we were leaving I was leaving the toilet block and the exit door swang back on my ankle and caused an injury that took months to get better!!!! Obviously not done their H&S assessments!

We havestopped at Lorelyblick excellentsite and if you get at the far end from the entrance the trains on that side of the river are in a tunnel so it isnot so noisy. The Boats do not bother us and we did not hear much from trains on the other side of the river. If you want to be on a quieter part of the river try the ACSI Camping Card Site at Giesenheim just out side of Rudesheim have notstopped there but did do have a look at it 2 or 3years back. No railway noise here. Pictures of site on here
