I contacted Parksy today and he kindly reinstated my login.
On the forum earlier today I saw Lutz's post asking about Euro (Peter).
Peter would have been highly amused by the comments but sadly he died about two days ago following a high speed motorcycle crash.
Peter had been unwell during our summer trip and he decided that a recent diagnosis combined with another condition was not what he wanted to live with having seen what his parents went through in their latter years, as his friend took a bend Peter didn't, he waved and gave a thumbs up and went straight on.
Sorry Parksy , but I could't do this twice.
Whatever anyone on the forum may think Pete was a lovely lovely generous big hearted man, we were life long friends from childhood and David and I feel kind of empty and helpless. He's left a doting wife, son, daugher and son inlaw and three granddaughter's.

Please accept my condolences Sadie.
Although I didn't always agree with Euro, mainly when he got the bit between his teeth he wouldn't let an issue drop, I mostly agreed with his comments and reasoning and like Lutz said, he was good for a debate. There was never any nastiness if we didn't agree, which was rare, and that's how things should be.
Once again, I'm sorry to hear of his death, especially in such a sad way, so please pass my sympathy on to his family.

I'm very sorry you have been the bearer of such sad tidings.

Euro always struck me as a very clever chap who knew what and where he wanted to be. Those motorcycle jaunts of his were amazing imo.
We should all remember that a Forum is only as good as it's members and diversity of opinion is what makes it such fun. Euro was one of those great fun contributors.

I'm sorry to learn about the death of Euro, I had no idea of his whereabouts when I commented in the other topic.
Condolences to Euro's family and friends.

I see that my reply earlier has been deleted. If it was considered inapproproriate then I apologise profusely. Actually I only meant to express my shock at what had happened so soon after I posted my other topic. Perhaps I used the wrong words. My condolences go out to his family and loved ones.

That has shocked me to say the least. Just don't know what to say other than please pass my sympathy to his family. He was always game for a bit of banter on CCC. He will be missed.

Thats not the case Lutz
Your reply was deleted completely by accident, I moved Dustydog's smiley icon which had appeared in the wrong place, when I did this DD's post about the icon was superfluous so I deleted that but unfortunately I carried it out incorrectly.
Somehow I managed to delete your post, I'm sorry.

Sadie, this is my first post on her for many weeks, and for it to be for such a sad reason grieves me.
Like many others, I did not always see eye to eye with Euro, but I respected his opinions. He appeared to lead the sort of life that lots of us would like, and he lived it to the full.
To end it the way he did, doing something which he enjoyed , took imense courage, and you can be proud of him for that.
My condolences and best wishes to you all.

From his posts he was clearly a man who knew his own mind and was determined in his choices. The news that the manner of his passing was on his terms, not the terms of his illness is perhaps small comfort to his family and friends; but it is perhaps worth holding onto the knowledge that he remained who he was up to the end.
my condolences

Thank you all very very much for your kind words.
Peter wouldn't want anybody to be sad about his passing. He made his choice and his belief was that we never really die as we live on in our children and grandchildren. We all knew what he wanted and that clinic in Switzerland after the doctors and drugs have had their way with you was never going to be on his agenda.
We had a great time touring south and north America. Such a wonderful joyous time despite the knocks and falls not that David and I can complain now

ps. For those who didn't know. Peter (Euro) was my husbands eldest brother and I have known the three brothers since we were little children and Peter's wife has been my best friend since school days.

I would like to say thank you to everyone here on behalf of Peters wife and family.
David and I got home yesterday and it has been a long month. I can't think about Christmas or anything else, we opened up our caravan today and started the car and were talking about just heading off until the new year. Then my cats found us and got in the caravan and made a great fuss of us. I'm sure they know that something has happened.

Thanks again to everyone.

We argued a lot,and we took the piss outta of each other too, maybe too far at times, but each new topic was just that, a brand new topic that our responses to each other would at times surprise each other or I like to believe that anyway.

RIP. Euro, [Peter] we never did get to have that drink, and I did say I would buy the first round too.....

I bet he's debating with St. Peter about the cost of entry and whether or not the unelected heavencrats are ripping us off with their spirit funded pensions.
