RIVENDALE CARAVAN PARK..........

HAS ANYBODY VISITED THIS CARAVAN PARK???????? IT LOOKS IDEAL BUT NEVER CAMPED IN DERBYSHIRE? IS IT FAR FROM THE MOTORWAY NETWORK? THANKS......DOES IT GET BUSY AT EASTER?

Rivendale, great park! Stayed there last November (brrrr), but good on-site facilities and handy for pretty market town of Ashbourne and picturesque villages. Good also if you're keen on cycling. Great cycle track on former railway, but the name escapes me just now.

beware that the hard standing,is HARD STANDING,its within a quarry and the floor is like bell metal.there are gravel/grass pitches which i definately will be having next time.the hard standing are ok if you don't have an awning, but if you have, don't have one of the h.s. pitches.the site itself is good, but can get very very dusty when windy

Like Klarky said, the hard standing is hard! You'll either love it or hate it just for that reason. There are some great attractions nearby, especially the old mines, worth a visit if you don't mind the waiting. The pub is on the small side if everyone decides to go at once, so I would recommend not visiting during high season, but the place is open for New Years so that's a bonus. I have seen people taking their 4x4 off road just over the road from where the site is, good spectacle, when it's on. Not the easiest place to get to, from some directions, so plan your route with care and be aware that manoeuvring on site can be tight (still a few boulders around) when arriving/departing. I hope I'm not putting you off in any way, as this site is well worth the visit, it's different from the norm, so try it.

Finally, yes it does get busy at Easter, but then they all do.
