Hi all,

Any ideas on this one. Put our Riviera Horizon up for the 2nd time this weekend, and yes it did rain a bit. But the water was pouring in, to the extent that the chairs are soaked and where I had rolled the internal blinds up was full of water.

It seamed to be coming in where the cross tensioning poles are, anyone else experineced this, is it normal for the first soaking.

Cheers,
Ian

A few years ago we had a Quest and I recall in the instructions it saying it might initially leak. I didn't wait to find out because I bought some sealer which came in a bottle and I sprayed it along the seams. Had no more problems after. It might have cured itself as per instructions but I didn't want to chance it.

hi Ian.
dont know much about this particular awning however some new awnings (dependant on the type of material) do leak untill they have had a good soaking and then completely dried out.
when we bought the van the dealer threw in a new dorema awning on the first trip out with the van the awning got soaked in torrential rain it was so wet we were singing the song "rivers of babylon" with the ammout of water getting in everything inside it was also soaked plus on the initial set up the awning just would not set up right no matter how tight I set the poles and skirt it looked slack and wrinkly, it did dryout though after a couple of days and when it had it seemed a little tighter and more in shape.
during the second week it started to rain again not wishing to risk it we removed everything out of the awning and waited, it did rain for 2 days solid but the awning stayed completly dry inside and has done ever since.
I assumed and had this confirmed later that certain materials need to be soaked though to set the waterproofer this also slightly shrinks the material mainly on the sewn seams this was why it it seemed tighter I think.

hope this helps
colin
