Hi all,

I mean this in the most sensitive manner, but a site we are going to specifically says no commercial vehicles on sites, which made me wonder if the site has specific issues with the travelling community and how sites deal with said issues.
 
Many sites say no to Commercial vehicles; doesn’t necessarily mean that they have difficulties with the travelling community.

Odd question, but I've seen a couple of old posts on CAMC about travellers coming on sites and them not removing them. Has this changed now ?
 
My son is self employed and has a van sign written,he asked if it would be permitted on site,he told them it was nearly 2 years old and that he had been coming on the site since he was 18 months old,(he was 50 recently).After a brief chin wag it was Ok'd,The site is a family run site.

Ah makes sense. I've had a bad experience many years ago with a number of travellers community on a site and getting back into vanife and would rather avoid a repeat
 
I believe the issue with sign-written vans is not to do with the travelling community, who as posted use plain vans, but to do with site licences which often are leisure only and don't permit tradesmen working away from home - but plenty of sites ignore that.

Personally, I see no reason why tradesmen with sign-written vans should be precluded from a weekend, or longer away from work, as some of them won't have another vehicles capable of towing.

I've never come across the travelling community on a caravan site in over 4 decades of caravanning - but our local council spends a fortune clearing up after they descend on some of our local football pitches and parks!
 
In over 50 years of caravanning only once travellers entered a site we were on in Cornwall overnight.This site then had barriers fitted which were then locked overnight 11pm to 7am

That's good then, had a bad experience many years ago with them appearing on site and getting back into caravan life and didn't know if it had gotten better or worse. Maybe just bad luck

Irrespective of where the barriers are unauthorised entry to a site could be trespass. But quite frankly I’ve had hassle at times from campers with kids playing ballgames or frisbee around the caravan, kite flying, barking dogs or inebriated adults late at night talking over each other in the awnings. Travellers null pointe.
