Hi,

I know it's probably been covered before but I can't seem to find it, so has anyone got any experience of roof mounted solar panels?we are looking for quite a large one around 85 watt ish and have it permanently fixed onto the roof.

Can anyone recommend a manufacturer other than Detroit so we can make a decent comparison please?

Also we would need it fitting either by manufacturer of another source.

Thanks

Simon & Caroline

Have a look at the above. The ebay store has a good reputation and good panels.

Maplins have a bonding kit on the page for fitting the panels to a caravan roof or the like.

Panels should be easy to fir by any electrician or caravan service engineer.

A caravan dealer may want to seel you their own panel and it may not be the best deal.

If you look elsewhere on this threads section you will find other detail re Solar.

Try Leisurepower in Warrington, www.leisurpower.co.uk

They supply only or install.

I bought my panels, charge controller etc. from there but fitted them myself.

I mounted my panels on aluminium angle that I bonded to the roof with Sikaflex so that I could remove them should I sell the van and just leave the angle behind.

Hello Simon & Caroline.

We are having a solar panel fitted to our roof. It is coming from moore-power.co.uk. It is a kyocera, which has been spoken about many times on the forum when solar has been mentioned.

They supply the fixing kits and regulators.

My dealership is fixing the system in March. They are contacting Avondale to check where the wires are in the roof, just in case, so they know where to fix it.

We searched the net for suppliers ands spoke to a few as well. The3 guys are Moore Power were helpful and answered our questions and reservations.

The solar panel will allow us to go to lots of CL's for a couple of weeks at a time, when there is no electric hook up points..

Hope that this is of help.

Graham

I have not heard any bad reports about Detroit,(or any good ones) They go to most of the big shows, and also fit at there home location in Nottinghamshire. But to be honest give me a mains hook up any Day of the week.

Allan & Gill.
