Roof vent cleaning

I'm just in the middle of getting our 'van ready for winter and don't know how to clean the roof vent/skylight. II can obviously clean the outer and inner surfaces but it's 'double skinned' and in between it is quite grubby ( there's even a small leaf trapped in one). Has anyone any tips on how to get these clean ?

Thanks

Trevor

I asked the same question some years ago with my last van a 2003 Challenger, and was told they cannot be dismantled to clean.
My dealer suggested I remove it from the van and soak it in water!! Needless to say I did not bother and lived with it until I eventually sold the van.
Hope somebody comes up with a better solution.

Thanks Lennie,

Not quite what I wanted to hear.

I think I'll ask on the Swift forum and see if they can help.

Cheers,

you can take the vent out big hassle or cover the under part of van ie the bed if the light is over the bed and use a garden pump spray put some strong mix like fenwicks blast it wilko spray about £2.50 pump action spray.

depends on the age of the van but the older plastic type can be taken off the carrage by unscrewing 4 screws from the interior side, they are however extreemly delicate, in fact the plastic containers that my take out comes in is better quality, they are prone to cracking. but i have removed mine and cleaned them on many occasions with no problem.
