Rotary airers for washing

Am quite taken with these - they seem to be popping up everywhere. Several questions if anyone has one...

1. Are the tripod stands any good i.e. do they blow over easily

2. As I am concerned that the stands will fall over, does anyone use the jockey wheel bracket? They look very good, but apart from spoiling one's view (!), an E-bay seller I looked at does not sell them with the airer as they find them unstable also, and recommends removing the jockey wheel completely to ensure it doesn't wobble.

I thought to prevent having to look at the washing it could be put on a clothes horse in one of those awning end extensions. The inner tent should buld up a good temp on warmer days to help with drying and you needn't sit looking at it, Argos do cheap end bits - but I'm not sure of a successful fit for every caravan. I haven't tried the airers themselves.

the reason a lot of people a using these airers,a lot of sites now have banned the use of washing lines

yes they blow over if not pegged well,the arms also slide down so I drilled holes so the locking screws go inside rather than relying on friction.Also made a bracket to mount satellite on in evening so v.useful bit of kit.I should think its difficult to get in locker with jockey one,also washing would blow over van which may be less than spotless with flies etc.

hi lesley, i have a rotary line i put it where the jockey wheel goes i have never noticed that it wobbles the only thing to be careful about is that ours is very close to the windows so i have put pipe insulation on the ends of it.

we always just take the maiden from home and use a tent peg to hond it down if it rains its quick and easy to bring in the whole lot into the awning

I think the Towsure on line catalogue has a device the size of a towball that fits inside the towball clamp with a jockeywheel sized clamp attached. Fit ball into clamp then fit rotary airer into jockey clamp. Disadvantage is you have to remove hitchlock to use it - would your insurer approve ? My thought is to join two jockey wheel clamps back to back - clamp one to jockey wheel upright, t'other to airer - if I can find or fabricate light weight clamps.
