Can anyone advise on the best route from the Stoke end of the A50 to the Riverside Caravan site at Betws-y-coed? There are a few options. The M6 and M56 route seems a long way round. Some route planners recommend this however, the AA being one of them.

Jim C.

I live next to Porthmadog and travel to Derbyshire at regular intervals.

From Stoke i would take the A500,A51,A534 to Wrexham.

Then down the A483 to Chirk.

Join A5 at Chirk. The A5 takes you all the way to Betws-Y-Coed.

An easy right turn in Betws to the site.

HOWEVER as you enter Betws you will pass a Shell Garage on your left, take your time and start to look immediatly for the right turn to the site. I say this because if you miss the turn, which is well signposted, you will travel some way to turn round.

I know the road from Stoke to Wrexham winds a bit in places but is quite alright to tow on.

The A5 from Chirk is a good and scenic road to tow on.

Jim C, We stayed on this site for a weekend last summer, it was the DEAREST site we have ever stayed on. You are put where they tell you,(cant choose a pitch) and if you are only there for the weekend you will be put at the far end of the site, never again. J.Lo

Hi J.Lo

Yes I agree they are rather expensive. I have been on a few managed sites where they allocate you a pitch, I'm not too happy with the arrangement but the site is in the area I want to go to.

I complained on this forum about Ashridge Farm (Not a Managed Site) where they also allocated me a pitch, saving some of the best hard stand pitches for motorhomes.

Jim,

This site is wonderful, brilliantly clean facilities and in a superb position near the centre of Betws.I envy your visit, we are booked in for New Year.
