Route advice cairnryan - carlise-lakedistrict

Hi hope some of you can offer a bit of advice please. We are travelling on wednesday 27 may from the ferry to carlisle area and would need a couple of stop off points to walk the wife while dog stays in car. Longish outfit and 4x4. Any advice appreciated. Thanks Billy

After you exit the final roundabout at Castle Douglas eastbound, you will be on a level section of road with two lanes Carlisle bound and one lane Stranraer bound.Approx half a mile later, these two lanes will taper in to one lane, and you will pass a junction with a road joining/leaving on your left. Slow-down here, because there is another road/lay-by (drive-through)on your left in about 200 yds., and this would be an ideal spot for you. This road/lay-by is very quiet, and about a quarter of a mile long. Hope this helps.

I travelled along the A75 from Dumfries to Castle Douglas on Monday and saw the lay by that Eddie is speaking about and it is excellent. Easy access and exit, and well away from the road.Quite sure you could get 10/12 outfits in at one time. If by any chance you miss it then there is another very similar one approx 1 mile further on, shortly crossing the bridge. These type of lay by's are all to few.

William
