Hi
We will be travelling from Shropshire to Pembrey cc site. Sat nav takes us via Shrewsbury and then down cross country, including on some non A roads - a no no when towing. In the past have done M54,M6, M5 then motorway to Ross on Wye, then a road and pick up M4 at Newport. We will be travelling on a Friday morning at the end of rush hour.
Any advice on routes appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hi
The motorways may be the quickest route, but, depending from where you are starting in Shropshire, it must be considerably further than using A roads to 'cut across' Wales. What about A458 from Shrewsbury to Newtown, then A483 to Builth Wells and on to Llandovery, picking up A40 to Llandeilo, then A483- M4- A4138 to LLanelli? I have towed most parts of this route in various trips to Mid-Wales and it is all 'caravannable' on A roads. Maybe slower, but much more scenic than slogging around the motorways.
Safe journey whatever route you take.
Cheers
Paul

Sorry but as a coach driver & caravanner I think you need to look at how far round it is to go A49 down to just the other side of Hereford, then take a short cut [the A4137] to Symonds Yat & the A40 Dual carridgeway.
This takes you down to the M4 at Newport [as you know], admittadly it's quite a hike up the M4 to Llanelli, but going cross counrty through Wales isn't massive fun with a 'van in tow, I know I live in North Wales!
The A49 is a good fast A road , I've towed on it loads of times. Remember to stop at 'Ludlow food court', follow the deliveries entrance sign when towing & park on the road along side the main building!
Happy Travels!
