We have booked to go to Dunnet Bay CC Site and are just planning our journey can anyone tell us what the A9 is like around Berriedale as there appears to be some steep gradients.

How steep How long etc

Thanks

We drove from to Dunnet Bay cc site last year via Brora. Had no problems at all. Just take your time and use the gearbox efficiently. The Dunnet site is right next to the beach, sooooo beautiful. The facilities are new and the wardens even got our daily newspapers.

Cheers

The Berriedale Braes are quite steep - you'll need to make full use of the gearbox both up and down the slope. Going down is more challenging in my opinion.

We did it a few years back with an Astra 1.8 towing 1250kg without any drama so conventional towcars should manage.

Hi BG,

We used this route this year when we were travelling south from Dunnet bay towing our 'van.

Encountered NO problems at all as long as you are driving sensibly.
