Hi am,

I assume that yours is the diesel version on the basis of your BHP quoted. I have the MGZT-T 1.8 petrol turbo 160 bhp and pull a Bailey Pageant Champagne with no real difficulty apart from fuel economy (18 mpg!!!!). I would think you will have no issues towing your van and am sure your mpg will be better than mine. The tourer also makes for an extremely good caravanning car due to the boot size as I am sure you will agree!

I tow with a 75 diesel tourer, quite a large two-berth. On cruise control I get around 23/25 at a steady 50, sometimes upto 29/30 mpg so I think it is very good. However, I find the vehicle is extremely low, with the roofline being much lower you really cannot see through the van, so have to make use of the mirrors all the time. That is the only grouse I have with her.

I bought the Rover 75 with the BMW 2.0L engine in August hoping for better fuel economy, they are nowhere near what they are claimed to be able to do 60mpg. I have not towed the caravan but as has been stated the car is too low, so I have gone and bought another Discovery, which I should have done in the first place.

Andrew.
