We have just bought and tried out this awning. Only problem we have had is the awning came away from the side of the caravan on both sides. It fell short by about 5inches. We tried sticking the sides down with duck tape but this was useless and the wind blew in and around the inside of the awning. We have thought of adding extra material onto the side panels to go inside the awning, using old awning material, then using 2 poles like you do on porch awnings. This I can do by making a pouch to put the poles into. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you solve it. Please help if you can. erica.

WE have a similar type of porch awning and the tip that I picked up from this forum was to peg the corners nearest to the 'van first, ie before actually raising the poles. The corners should be pegged under the caravan to pull the awning material tight against the side of the 'van. Then put the poles up and peg out the rest. This doesn't give a perfect seal but does reduce the gap to almost nothing.

There was another tip which involved using foam pipe lagging which I haven't tried yet. I am not sure how this would work. I can only assume that the foam slipped over the material would stop draughts etc but I'm not sure if this would be done on the inside or outside.

Hi Erica, I have the ultima awning with a Bailey pagent van & had the same problem with gaps at the sides between van & awning The problem is the van awning rail is lower than the minimum specified by the awning makers. This prevents you from bringing the poles in closer to the van in order to close the gap as it then raises the curve of the awning again causing the same problem. I solved this by cutting of 3 inces off the poles (replace the rubber tips on the cut poles)& this has cured the problem. check the van awning rail height is with in the makers Spec. TD
