Sad day!

We looked at Guest insurance and it didn't cover car problems, and had the normal loading, or let outs for medical conditions, or forthcoming tests, consultations and treatments., relatives who may cause you to cancel etc. Reinforced my view that insurers do not like risk.
Does anybody?

......I hope it was a joint decision between your wife, yourself, Surfer, Durbanite and Wychean.
In fact I know it wasπŸ™‚
Good luck.

Prof I found your earlier post very moving .
It takes a lot of courage and love to publicly tell us your very sad news . I can appreciate the last nine months have been very tough being alone as I am sure will life going forward alone.

It doesn’t need me to say it but rest assured you have a lot of friends amongst the Forumites on here. All your technical posts are not wasted even on simple dogs like me.πŸ™€

My parents have just made a similar decision, my step-father has just had his 91st birthday and decided that his chronic COPD means that everything is hard work, leaving him permanently out of breath so they've decided to give up the caravan while they still enjoy it, they don't want it to become a chore. He is the absolute definition of stubborn but having given in and had a motor mover fitted in 2019 and switched to a lightweight inflatable awning in 2022 it enabled them to carry on for a bit longer.

We ran a holiday let in Norfolk until we moved last year. We used Sykes Cottages. I know they offered guests insurance but I don't know the cost, hopefully not too much.
We just paid insurance with Sykes cottages with our break in April it was Β£35 that for a week .

Today contacted by a dealer through Motorway who is willing to buy the Jeep at a better than expected price if they think it is in very good condition. . They will be collecting the Jeep within the next 2 days.

Also today moved a lot of stuff that was in the Jeep into the Lexus leaving out all the caravan related stuff & toolbox. The Lexus is woefully short of storage space in comparison to the Jeep, but the glove box in the Lexus is a lot larger than the Jeep by almost double.

Now we have a redundant Tyrepal TPMS and TomTom Go caravan satnav as the satnav in the Lexus is up to date. However I do not know yet if the Lexus satnav gives you up to date traffic reports as still working my way through various menus.

Just another day in lives of the Buckman family. LOL! πŸ‘ πŸ˜†
