Safe jumpstarting

Hello all looking for a bit of help the battery on my fiat Ducato base vehicle is on the flat side and will not turn the engine over I have been told not to jumpstart it as it may damage the ecu is it any safer to use a portable battery charger/jump starter .

I have successfully jump started my Fiat Ducato several times without a problem using my Vauxhall Innsignia ! The connection points are under the bonnet, instructions in the Fiat manual are fine to follow.

I don't see how doing so could damage your ECU ?

All sorted with my solar panels now so hopefully no more jump starting required !
