Safefill Gas Cylinder.

Have recently purchased a Safefill cylinder, the company provide a list of filling stations on their website and two are within a 10min. drive of my house. When I took the cylinder for the first time for filling, the pump attendant (small independent) explained to me all about the cylinder and the safety features, the main one it stops filling at 80% full. He then showed me how to connect up and fill; 15ltrs/8.6kg of propane gas for £13.06.
Have just had two consecutive long weekends away with no EHU, 6 nights in total; on the first weekend lots of rain, wind and cold. Gas for cooking, water heater, fridge and space heater on for about 15/16 hours total (low/med setting) over the weekend. Went to top it up ready for the following weekend, cost £5.04, and used about the same gas that weekend as well, still cold.
So for 6 nights, gas cost about £10.00 or a 6kg Calor light at £23.00. Now we can always go off with a full cylinder, will still keep the Calor Light for the BBQ and just in case.
Yes, the initial cost of the cylinder (free carriage from a caravan dealer in East Yorkshire!); but we do attend a lot of rallies and use 5 van sites with no EHU, may not be cost effective for those that like to use EHU.

Good to hear about this as I have looked into it. However I understand some stations won’t let you fill them. (My local is on the Safefill list but won’t let you fill.) Any one else have success in finding places that will fill?

Good idea but how long would it take to recover the cost of the bottle from savings on the gas, or more correctly how many bottles of calor lite would you have to buy to exceed the cost of the bottle and the journeys to get the bottle refilled.
