Santander Ferry Arrival 5.15pm - Site for evening?

In mid-April we will dock in Santander on the Pont Aven at 5.15pm, presumably along with lots of other outfits. Naturally, arriving at such a time means finding a site within fairly close range. The ACSI 2013 book lists No. 2215 Playa de Oyambre (Cat. 1) at S. Vicente de la Barquera as the nearest. The C Club Spain Guide lists Camping Cabo Mayor in Santander (6km NW) and Camping Altamira in Santillana del Mar. These seem to be the only ones that do not have the caveat "not suitable large outfits" and we have a 7.2m Senator Oklahoma.
Recommendations for the first night stop welcomed!

Hi I would check out what they mean by large outfits as 7.2 m is not unusual, that would then allow you to establish what sites are available to you. The info will be in the two club and ACSI websites in their overseas brochures on the web and on each sites own website.
We stopped at Cabot Mayor for two nights in 2011 with a 7m unit and it was okay.

Our very first trip to Europe was on the Santander ferry route and we stayed for 2 weeks at the Playa de Oyambre site. Although we enjoyed the site which has good facilities there is a very large "residential" static presence which gets very busy (and noisy) at weekends. However, access from the port is very easy and for a couple of nights stopover I would recommend it. The North of Spain is beautiful, particularly the Picos mountain region so have a lovely time.
