Santander overnight parking

I'm finding conflicting advice - please can a recent traveler tell me what is the current situation regarding parking overnight on the dockside at Santander?

We are booked on the 10.30 am Brittany ferry from Santander to Portsmouth next wednesday (28th March) and the easiest option for us is to check in (if we are allowed) late the day before and then just park p on the dockside until the next morning.

Is this allowed now?

Thanks

No! It is at Bilbao but not at Santander. If you're on an evening departure they will allow you to check in at 9.0am on the day then leave your outfit while you visit the city. I always arrive in Santander the night before and spend the night at Camping Virgen del Mar which is on the north side of the peninsular. The site is 5 miles across town from the port or ten miles if you go via the motorway (which is quicker). See my blog for a full review.

OK, thank you - that seems to settle it.

I'm getting the impression that Santander USED to allow overnight parking, but not any more.
