I thought that the little black press button on the unit was the master switch and completely cut all the power to the unit and therefore the caravan. However after using it to cut the power I checked the unit an hour later to see the battery charger and heating / hot water lights were still on / active. I’m assuming that this is normal and to cut the power to these two functions I need to cut the power at the distribution point / post?IMG_3958.jpeg

When hooked to mains these will be on. The Black button prevents Battery run down when no mains supply is on the caravan

Aahhhh. I also noted that the sockets were also live and the microwave clock was on so the little black button only disabled the 12v appliances - lights etc
I suppose if I didn’t want the battery to be charged (green light) I just press it to turn it off.

I seem to recollect that the black switch would be pressed for towing and it sets up the electrics for towing. It was in my owners handbook the instructions.

Ok. I’m on a permanent pitch so switch the charger off occasionally (when I’m not in residence) to avoid overcooking the battery and have a solar panel which keeps the battery charged when the charger is off.

The black switch should switch off all 12 volt supply. It could easily be labeled much better. I have a later version. With an LCD screen when I turn power off, it has no effect on the mains. But, even worse, the fridge light and alarm remain live.
