What is all this fuss about satellite tv about. My wife and I go away to explore the area where we stay and not to sit in the van to watch tv. In my opinion there is a load of rubbish on both satellite and terestial tv and it does not warrent the extra expence and problems associated in setting up the equipment. We have a tv with us when we tour but it is only used at breakfast time and late at evening for the news (which in many cases is soul distroying). We try to get away from the everyday mundane routine and explore new avenues.

I must admit though the pratting around with a terestrial arial does get on my wick.
I would like to have a small satelite dish that is easy to set up as you do definately get a much better picture. But the cost is so stupid I can't justify one.
I believe a good holiday is you being in your own little world enjoying your peace and tranquility, because when you return reality zap's you between the legs opens your eyes wide and hey presto "ground hog day" is back on the agenda.
Wake up, eat, go to work, get a right bol****ing, go home feeling worthless, get moaned at by one and all, fall asleep infront of the tele, drag yourself off to bed. And guess what? Tomorrow's just another day. (talk about repeats on the TV!!??)

That's pretty much why we have an Eriba, we don't want to pull a mobile living room behind us.

live and let live boys and girls, our hols wouldn`t be the same without Corrie, I don`t slag anyone for what they do as long as they don`t offend me and mine.
Colin you need a break, I'd prescribe a week away in your caravan, not stressing yourself out with what other do with their time.
I pay a subscription for my satellite viewing so why shouldn't I watch it in the evenings when there is nothing else to do. Besides it takes less than 5 minutes to set up my dish and have a perfect picture as opposed to messing around with a terresterial aerial trying to locate a signal. My signal is always in the same place!
As my wife and I have both taken early retirement neither of us are stressed out - we enjoy the opportunities given to us to live life to the full and not sit down and vegitate watching any form of rubbish on TV. I am not in any way objecting to any person using a satellite receiver in their van - live and let live. What I do not understand is the need for this additional entertainment on site when there should be so much outdoor leisure enjoyment to be had from caravanning. My wife and I use our van virtually for bed and breakfast as we are of the opinion that we go away to see new scenery/surroundings and to meet new campers and socialise. If we wanted to sit and watch TV we could do this far cheaper and probably have a better quality of picture by staying home.

We like views and walking and probably walk around 8-10 miles a day with our dogs when away. We keep ourselves to ourselves pretty much, prefer Certificated Locations in quiet parts of the country, enjoy cooking in the 'van, and don't question what others do so long as it doesn't intrude or have a negative impact on us. We also like to sit down for the last hour of the day with a glass or two of wine watching TV.
It is our choice.

Live and let live..I agree but have to admit that I have been astonished on some occasions ,the amount of gear/extras that some people carry when in there vans.A few times I have been in hysterics watching people spend half a day setting up this and tuning in that and then not move off their bottoms for a week.
Probably to tired from all that work , yeh..can't beat the freedom a caravan gives and getting back to nature with the basics in life.
I do agree though,we all look for different things and life would be pretty dull if we were all the same..

We are approaching decrepitation and one of us is a long time sufferer with Parkinson's disease so we enjoy our satellite TV
We try to keep the volume down so that we do not upset anyone and we watch out P's and Q's .
You obviously don't need TV as the rest of us lesser mortals are "hysterical" to watch.
On the long winter nights do you recourse to night vision binoculars one wonders .

Not everbody is as fortunate as you. My wife is severely disabled and cannot go exploring without me pushing her in the wheelchair. She enjoys caravanning and watching satellite TV in the van. So don't knock it until you think a bit more about other peoples needs.
