Surely you mean 8.3 degrees, which is a relatively small variation in angle.
yes quite right, I have used the dish from Dornoch to St just, and still found a signal using the same basic set up,
often setting it up blind "no compass" with just the sun as a reference point, but then as a caravanners we do this anyway (don't we) orientating the van where possible so the awning catches the morning sun to dry it out early.

JWT,
I use a Humax HD satellite receiver which I pretuned at home to Asra 2 satellite.
I always select channel 101 (BBC1) then adjust the dish until a BBC1 picture appears on the screen,That way you know you are getting a signal from the correct satellite.
As I say I use a Humax satellite receiver so I can't say this works for all receivers.
I've used this method all over Europe with quick and easy results every time.
The only other thing I use is a compass. ( and the wife of course - to tell me a picture has appeared!)

Hi. You can get a free app on the iphone that uses your gps position to help you align your dish. I would have thought there would be one on android too.
Not where I go caravanning!
If you've got a mobile/broadband signal then you've probably got a DTV signal as well and don't need satellite.
