Satellie TV

I understand from recent TV advertisments that new Sky viewing cards are being issued over several weeks. Does this mean that if a new card arrives when you are away on holiday you will be unable to watch your TV?

You will be able to watch all the free channels(BBC1 etc) if the old card is cancelled

It depends on how long you are away for and how long Sky allow for the changeover

We are going to be away for 5 weeks from Sunday so are hoping that HRH is not deprived of the football

I do hope you are lucky with your existing card - is it worth contacting Sky and requesting new card before you leave.

Thanks for the good wishes

As we have multi room we are not supposed to remove the boxes from the house so mums the word

We will be able to watch BBC,ITV etc if it does switch off

Also Sky say that you should not take the equipment out of UK but many people do

Note that the card renewal only applies to subscription users - it does not affect Freesat cards as far as I can tell (and others agree.)

Your contract with Sky - subscription or FreeSat - says it can only be used at the address for which the card is registered, so contractually you cannot take it in the 'van. Having said that how can they police it if, like FreeSat, you are not required to have a phone line connected? What is more whichever type of service you have you own the box from day one so you are covered if you take the box with you but leave the card at home.

Simple solution - get a Freesat box instead.
