Hi all, we currently have a Arcon sweety dish, with the built in LNB, my question is this.... When on site in an area with trees, I often see people with the other type of dish, with the LNB on an arm, they seem to get reception a lot easier! Is this true or is it just me? Regards Andrew

To be honest when I read "arcon sweety dish" I thought you were at the wind up and had to do a google search to see what one was.
Never used or even seen one so couldn't comment on how they compare with a "normal" dish. Location on a site, particularly one with trees can make getting a clear signal either easy or not depending on whether or not you have a tree blocking your dish's reception. The advice I would give to anyone asking questions about satellite is to visit www.satelliteforcaravans.co.uk A really excellent source of all satellite related queries.

If you happen to have an iphone or other smartphone then this app http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dishpointer-ar-pro/id321914743?mt=8 will prove very useful. It uses the camera view on the smartphone to superimpose the satellite positions on so that you can see if you put the phone where you want to put the dish whether there is clear line of sight to the satellite.

It can save wasting a lot of time trying to find a satellite from an unsuitable dish position.
