Has anyone experience of broadband internet by way of satellie ?
I've been looking at the idea and all the suppliers mention 'latency' when they mean 'lag' - quite understanable given the distance to the satellite.
What none of them say is how bad this is.
For example how is Skype using a video call ? What about fast moving objects e.g. Foot or snooker balls or F1 cars ? Films through FilmOn ?
Any comments appreciated

I looked into one of those MiFi hub thingies but then decided I didn't want to spend a weekend away caravanning with the Long Haired Admiral checking FB every five minutes on her phone so opted against it. We don't take a telly with us either.

Don't know about broadband but the difference between satellite and terrestrial TV is about 4/5 seconds

I bought a MiFi hub when I was in Portugal this year. Superb, could watch Filmon easily, Skype etc but it's expensive. A few years ago I considered satelite internet but that was even more expensive plus (at the time and it might have changed now) you had to take out a monthly contract. There was also the possible problem with setting it up.
