Satellite TV?

Dear all,

Can anyone tell me if we buy a travel satellite dish and connections, can we just take our home sky box and card and will this work? Can anyone recommend a portable dish?

Thanks

Lois

You can take your own Sky box and car and it will work once you have found the satellite-an acquired Knack

The Sky mini dish is as good as anything on a good tripod (dish need the tripod as vertical as possible

Worth taking a look at this site:-

I use a mini-dish and have had good reception as far as Northern Spain. The experts will tell you that you need a bigger dish but once you get used to aligning the dish and then fine tuning it a mini-dish works fine.

The recommendations regarding size of dish are meant to cover the majority of reception conditions that you are likely to encounter, in particular, the weather. Therefore, although you may be able to get a good picture outside the footprint for a smaller dish on a clear day, you may soon run into problems when dark thunderclouds get into the way of direct line of sight to the satellite, for example. The recommended dish sizes are meant to cover such conditions so that enjoyment of TV reception is not too easily impaired.
