Hi All

We are wanting to stay around the Saumur area in the loire next summer for about 8 to 10 days as travelling around for 3 weeks. Can anyone recommend any nice sites , preferably with large pitches and not overun with teenagers. Any personal recommendations would be very much appreciated to follow up on. Regards - Pete.

Hi Pete, our favourite is at Coutures, Camping Monsabert - haven't been there for a few years, but graet facilities, in ground pool & not too commercialised. Very much a young family sight as no club house, therefore no teenagers. Book direct & save a fortune. Good luck!

Hi Pete, Have used La Valee des Vignes just south of Saumur for the last few years. Run by British family, nice pool, small restaurant, some large pitches, mostly good size but some smaller ones as well. I have 23 foot twin axle and had no problems. Have only visited in September when it is very peaceful but most pitches are away from any potential noisy areas. Well run by nice people. They do have web site which shows many pictures.

Great site that we have been to a number of times - L'etang de la Breche, about 3 miles from town. Check it out at www.les-castels.com

hi pete you wont be disapointed with chanterpie. also valee des vignes is nice in a good area. dou la fontane is well worth a vist. with its unusual zoo. and rose gardens. if its very hot, cool down in the mushroom caves.

Cheers everyone for your suggestions - Seems a couple of sites have been very well recieved- which will prove very helpful.

I have just checked out l'etang de la Breche but

unfortunately fully booked for the period we have available - late July/August..proves it must be popular so have bookmarked for an early booking for 2006. Now onto the others phew....Regards to all Pete.
