Hi all, the stste schools where i live in oxfordshire have opted for a 6 term school year. Over easter they will get just good friday and easter monday off and back to school on the tuesday. Instead they have 2 weeks off in april (2nd _ 16th). Now looking at brochure prices i can get some cracking deals but the kids are worried that they will have nobody to hook up with. Are there any other counties that are doing this 6 term school year?

OH NO.

Does this mean that CHILDREN will be polluting the peace that we retired folks enjoy when they are normally at school?!!!

Oh no!!!!! Does this mean that when we are on holiday there will be grumpy old curmudgeons like BJ to spoil the fun for all us kids. Not being allowed to laugh, play any games, run around or make any noise without Mildrewesque characters whinging and moaning about us noisy youngsters who are, after all, only trying to have a nice holiday, same as he is. Shame there aren't any 'Old People Not Allowed' Campsites.

I think this is going to be the norm soon. All the LEA schools in Bristol are now on a 6 term year. Just enjoy the lower rates while they last before the site operators twig and up the prices.

South Gloucestershire schools have adopted a 6 Term School year, but the Easter Break has not been altered - Term 4 ends on Thursday 24th March and Term 5 begins on Monday 11th April - so your Oxfordshire children won't have any South Gloucestershire playmates, except on the Bank Holiday dates.

Essex have alreday done this and our daughter is in last 2 years of school so we only have a short time to suffer this, as for BJ please don't tar all the young kid's with the same brush, perhaps you should take advise from Denise's comment

Lincolnshire has changed its term setup to 6 terms but like S/Gloucestershire is off from 24-3 until 12-4. On the point of BJ perhaps he could spend the said period of time writing a really interesting course for todays generation on how his generation sat quietly, never played or became noticeable on his holidays
