Seat Alhambra Diesel Automatic

Excellent towcar if you are prepared to replace the auto gearbox every 30k, go for the manual, we had a Sharan manual and my father in law has a Galaxy auto which uses about 15% more fuel, searches horribly up and down the gears on steep hills, and the gearbox fell apart completely at 30 odd k

Both cars were extremely stable, practical, economical(manual)and spacious but in the 6 years / 110,000 miles we had the Shaz the wiper motor, air con, suspension joints, wiring harness at hinge points, head gasket, belt tensioner, central locking all had problems, Reliability of the Galaxy is only marginally above Landrovers and Renaults at the bottom of the pile, I hope our new S-max is better.

Interesting because we had a manual Alhambra and its gearbox packed in at 28k miles. They replaced it under warranty and the new one went the same way. Never again.
