Hi,
I see that there is now a security lock to lock the motor mover on to the wheel. What does everyone think, will this lead to tyre damage, or is the pressure on the tyre from the motor mover nothing to worry about?
regards Gordon

Mover rollers should never be left in the engaged position for long periods of time.

They should be applied to use the mover, then released.

Given that we all worry about tyres being permanantly deformed through being left standing over winter I'd have thought having the motor mover roller permanantly engaged would have caused as much if not more damage.
No proof/evidence or supplier's instructions - just common sense.

Thanks Phil-interesting Riversway leisure are advertising locks similar or maybe the same as corner steady locks to lock motor movers in the engaged position. Be intersting to see what the motor mover manufactures have to say.

Quote " Thanks bold statements, have you got any reasoning or evidence?"

As I fit many movers, particularly for Powrtouch, I have plenty of reasons to advise what I have, otherwise I wouldnt advise it.

Damage to tyres, damage to roller bearings and spindles, unnecessary prolonged pressure on clamping plates causing movement of mover on chassis rail, to list a few.

Hope it helps.

Forgot to add, they are a waste of time, it only takes a few minutes to move the whole assembly away from the wheels, lock or no lock.

The instructions with our mover said they should not be left on the wheel when not in use. I have locked them on when there have been storms and removed them after as it should prevent the van moving.

With the potential damage to four tyres plus potential damage to the mover I would avoid anything that involved the mover being engaged for any longer than is necessary to move the van.
