OK I'll let you off this time Prof
I haven't noticed much evidence of unjustified complaints about manufacturers warranty T&C's on this forum to be honest, most of us who have ever bought a new caravan are very keen to stay within the T&Cs in order to be covered by manufacturers warranties.
There are of course exceptions. One that sticks in my mind (from a different forum) is the bloke who bought a brand new Swift caravan only to destroy the electronics with the use of a 2 stroke generator.
He was apparently trying to sort out a warranty repair with the dealership in person when his wife mentioned his use of this unsuitable power source :woohoo:
His excuse was that he didn't know that the generator use would invalidate his warranty

So where does all this banter leave Saint Spoon and his Adria question  :silly:
IMO Saint Spoon write direct to both Adria and the supplying Dealer and ask them for a cogent response. Then if you do as they say you can sleep easy. :cheer: :)
BTW I'm not a speeder but only dog ignorant :p B)

I agree the best bet is to get it from Adria in writing. The Lunar Guarantee refers to "approved" but does not define them so I got an e mail from them to confirm that they accept NCC approved businesses.

As far as the op's question goes, certain AWS engineers can service the unit and register the service on the Adria portal, however warranty still needs to go through the dealer, having said that certain 3 rd party items can be done under warranty so long as the engineer has done said courses.....Alde, Al-Ko, etc etc

Does that mean the engineer will seek reimbursement from Alde etc or from the supplying dealer or caravan manufacturer?
Seems this could be a lot of work for someone :eek:hmy:

Alde and a lot of other manufacturers will cover the parts and labour, what most don't cover is travel and investigative work, this would normally covered by the customer, this may dependi on the relationship between them, i.e. Regular custom etc

Warranty claims can either be sent before or after the event i.e. if someone is on holiday and need a repair afforded and it is clear cut that there is a faulty part then the travel would be covered by the customer, the claim for the repair and parts would then be sent on, however if a part is changed as a we are fairly certain this is the problem and the warranty is rejected as the part is not faulty then the customer may have to cover the parts as well.

DD, when we had heating trouble early on with the current van, Whale sent the chap out direct to us on site we just signed his work sheet. Our workshop sorts warranty work out with the component manufacturers for us not with Bailey. He's not authorised to do warranty work for Bailey, just servicing.

Martin is correct.

This is one of the aspects of the T&C's of a manufacturers warranty, They can shift responsibility to OEM suppliers for some items of equipment in the caravan.

In many cases OEM equipment in caravans is covered by the equipment manufacturers own guarantee. This is why you may have several cards to fill to register your appliance with the relevant manufacturer. In all cases this in addition your statutory rights under SogA and the CRA.

I was just wondering if I had asked about nose weight or buying second hand gas canisters LOL. Thank you all for your responses; contrary to what some might believe I have actually learnt a lot from them. I asked the question well in advance because I assumed that there would be more to the servicing question than one initially assumes. As far as I am aware I had to have the first service done by the dealer and I have done that but for me it means taking a day off work and towing for around 120 miles return trip plus finding something to do whilst they service the van.

I have a starting point.

I also preferred to use a mobile as it saved towing long distances, leaving the van and repeating the journey to collect it.My van is a Lunar and on their website they list all mobile service agents approved to service their vans and maintain the warranty
