Because the engineers have to be trained, the tools have to be purchased, the garage has to be built, the electricity has to be paid, the heating has to work, the telephone has to be connected, the staff need paying, business rates have to be paid,......

do I need to go on ??

I had my last service done by a accredited mobile service engineer.

He bent my alko chassis by jacking under the alko jack "holes", and although he removed the hubs, he didn't reset the brakes by the book. Wasn't sure what pressure to use for the gas pressure test, so guessed.

got him of this link, who checks these peoples work?

I had this service two years ago, but he is still on the list for my area.

Nobody. Pay your money, turn up for a week and you are a caravan engineer.

We have one up here and quite frankly he is a menace but the dealers love him.

If it is used as a stepping stone to AWS then fair do, but most dont and just muddle through. That is my opinion and experience

Just picked my van from its service ( 3rd service , 3 years old )

A large main dealer did the 'work'.

Still had the couple of faults I asked them to look at and they added a small ding to the side ( which they are going to repair )

All for

The mobile engineer we use was recommended to us. He worked as an engineer at our local dealers and they were one of the people who recommended him as well as friends. We have gone on and recommended him to others. He has no need to advertise, it's done by word of mouth.

He did all our servicing and warranty work on our previous caravan. He also called by when I told him the van was leaking. He found the leak on the roof and resealed it. No charge.

Last year I lost the isolation key to my mover. He had a key on his van which he gave me. No charge.

He has replaced a window on our present Bailey under warranty and also replaced the work top which was an insurance job after Her Ladyship dropping a pyrex bowl on it.

With him coming to our home I don't have the hassle or cost of taking the van to our dealers and we save megabucks in the meantime.

Cannot fault him or the service we get.

If I point Richard in this direction so he can read the glowing praise about himself maybe he might knock a few more quid off ... heh! heh!
