Setting up the awning?

I am abit panickaty when I do things and setting up the awning is no exception.

I have used the stiching as a guide and worked from there. The manual is about as useful as a chocolate fireguard. If I use the bottom stiching as the floor guide then the rubberband to peg is too loose.

Should the floor stiching be therefore above the floor?

To be honest I have looked around sites to see how other awnings have been put up but it was no help.

What make / model?

You will see there is a plastic skirt sewn into the bottom of the awning fabric. If you were to rasise the poles so that 50% of the skirt was off the ground will that give you sufficient tension in the rubberband to peg?

Sometimes it is a bit of hit and miss. Awnings like the Isabella use a system whereby you have three choices of height.

Obviously no terrain is the same , hence the need for some adjustments.

Its a NR Sterling 16' with or without end bedroom

The skirt is cut at the corners and with no way of fixing the skirt to the floor leaves holes?

I have looked at some pics and they show the bottom stiching higher than the floor level. This can be acheaeved by increasing the pole hights - but the down sides are holes in the corners were the skirt is cut and the inner bedroom 'ties' to the top poles are too short - so the bottom of the inner bedroom is just off the floor putting stress on the cross poles when slep in.

I can see easy ways of getting round this eg. fix pleated skirts to the corners and longer ties for the inner bedroom. but I was interested to see how others had got around this.

I am not 100% sure the age of this awning but it had never been used before me. The 'file' of paperwork I had when I bought the van suggests 1997. They do not make this awning now.
