Our Shark has a variable suction lever on the handle, close it and you could hang the vacuum cleaner from the ceiling.
On our shark the variable suction it says Min / Max tried it on min it went over short pile carpet first, and we have a thick carpet rug it was very easy to use when we put it in Max it was harder to use but the amount .of excess it brought up of the carpet, we could not believe it but the led lights it got is great glad we invested in a new one with two dogs it is needed.

That sounds promising as we still have one Springer and our grandsons young Visla seems to be a more frequent visitor, primarily as WFH begins to incur increasing energy costs. The Visla is a large rough haired mutt.

Beachball now you have had the Shark for a while how are you getting on with it? My wife is “ warming” to the idea and Christmas approaches ever nearer.

Hi Clive my wife loves this new Shark you will not be disappointed
Digging a bit deep in the barrel aren't we BB, Christmas 2022 has long gone.

Thanks for the feedback though, but after our last spaniel left in January we bought a Dyson cordless with anti hair wrap, and compared to our old Dyson upright its a dream to use. Does all of downstairs on a single charge. But it did not have to deal with as much dog hair and detritus as the old upright did. So the old one is now stored JIC! However, a complication has arisen as now our grandson's Vizla seems to have fostered us, as his company are now cutting back on WFH.

We have the Miele vacuum which is very good at pet hair. Yorkies do not shed hair, but long haired cats do, but we are now down to one Yorkie and one Norwegian Forest cat as all the others have passed on and he makes up for the others when he comes to moulting.

However lugging around the Miele Blizzard machine is now getting a bit much for us as it weighs close to 7kg empty. We are considering either one of the Dyson models or the Miele Triflex HX2 cordless vacuum cleaners.

Which model of Dyson do you have at present and do you find the charge more than ample? Thanks for any feedback.

We bought a Dyson V8 direct from Dyson ) price match guarantee, and since it was in January there were some additional bits included. Dyson also have an excellent record for customer service, and one of their centres is 15 minutes walk away. The link isn't the exact package that we bought but it shows the V8. Compared to the old upright the dust container is small and would have required emptying part way through the downstairs if we still had the two mud magnets, but it's so easy to empty anyway it is hardly a chore. ( so my wife says).

From the link below you can also find the V8 User Manual too by going into the support section.

PS the last dog went on 3rd January and on 5th we ordered the Dyson. It arrived 6th and I tested it on the lounge carpet after vacuuming the carpet with the old Dyson upright. The new one picked up quite a lot more even after doing it once with the old upright. Proof of pudding as they say.

Thanks for the feedback. Previous to the Miele cylinder we had a Dyson cylinder and the new Miele picked up quite a bit after the old Dyson which is what is making choosing either another Miele or Dyson difficult. With Miele it will probably be the HX2 or with Dyson the V15 although on WEhich the V11 is rated slightly higher. We are in a small single story bungalow with only 3 carpeted rooms so either should cope. The Dyson is the slightly cheaper model and oen is made in the UK and the other in Germany. I checked! 😂😂

We looked at the V15 but apart from a significant step up in price did we really need a digitally controlled laser visible dust counter that controls the suction level. For 54 years with kids and dogs and cats we have managed to keep our home clean. Or perhaps we’ve failed and that’s why ourselves and the kids never suffered allergies.

Dyson have not made vacuums in U.K. for quite a while. Their HQ is in Singapore and production in Malaysia with some in *****. But the R&D is in UK.

I'm not sure why such an old thread has been resurrected.
Beachball, you've posted on here many times since Christmas, so stop necro posting.
