Shortage of vans

Went to our local dealer at the weekend and where they normally have approx. 50 vans for sale only had about 15 and some of those had just had a sold sticker put on them.
The shop is a large shop with a awning display area but had many empty spaces on the shelves. Wanted some cleaner for the toilet bowl but they had sold out.
With the number of vans sold it may be harder to book a pitch next year . Many of our local sites are already full for this year and much of next year with some taking bookings for 2022

Hope for some rubbish weather or family dust ups then as some decide caravans or tents are not for them the returns will start and there could be some good bargains. 🙈

I’ve been searching for a week for a replacement caravan, trawling round dealers there seemed to be quite a few available but couldn’t find what we wanted and missed one on eBay we fancied, I’ve now put a small deposit on a 2018 Bailey Pegasus GT70 Rimini, ticked every thing on the list of things we wanted and several not on our list, comes with several bits of kit and we are hoping it’s soon Saturday when I pick it up, done a video viewing as it’s in Cornwall but gonna bring it to around 60 miles of us, can’t wait.

I’m counting the hours until I can fetch the van on Saturday, as soon as I get it home and I can satisfy myself it’s all ok so probably a couple of hours after getting it home, I’ll be on the phone looking for a pitch somewhere local, got CRIS checked and ok so that was a relief, update you all on Saturday.

I to have order some of Ebay (Thanks otherclive )
I try not to buy of the internet but buy from our local dealer on the basis that they may still be in business when I want to change vans. Buying on line deprives the dealer of funds to keep them going.
If we all buy on line and the dealer network collapses will be have to buy direct from the manufacturers ?

Well when my local dealers (two) wanted £115 for a Flojet pump and a specialist pump supplier wanted half that including express delivery it wasn’t a difficult choice to make.
I find it frustrating trawling around shops that don’t have what I require. Today after two visits I asked my local garden Center why they had no John Innes no3. They said they won’t be ordering any until early 2021 to keep stocks down. Result three bags coming on line. It’s been online that’s really helped us during lock down to landscape and replant the garden and build wardrobes and decorate bedrooms as well as sort out the garage. So it may be a catch 22 situation but needs must.

Yes their 50l bags of No 3 are only around £5. The nearest to me with stock is Cirencester and they have 330+ in stock. What do they do in that area eat it? May call in next time I drive the Fosse to the Midlands or just fancy a nice after noon out.

Tangent alert. Out.

After our last trip,2 weeks ago wareham Forrest,we sold the van.We planned on selling with a view to getting a new one for next year.People are clambering over themselves to buy caravans,we went to several local dealers(lancashire) most stock sold, had to que for a parking space😳.
What I can't understand is how a family have thought"can't go on our usual £4000 holiday to Spain so let's buy a £20,000 caravan" suspect next year going to be loads of surplus caravans, bit like all the dogs people bought in lockdown ,now not required, very short sighted and no long term thought.
