Shower tray replacement.

Morning folks, I'm sure this has been covered and will have a proper search for info shortly, however, if someone can tell me if I am correct in thinking that, to replace the cracked shower tray in my 2000 swift Speedbird I will need to remove be thetford toilet? And if so, is it just the base section that would need to come out? Next, other than some screws in the shower tray itself (with plastic caps) is there any hidden areas with fixings I'll need to check? Good thing is if it breaks coming out its ok as getting replaced anyway!!

There is a company that advertises being able to repair cracked shower trays in situ, saves having to take toilet and everything else out. I have seen it in the CC Magazine, but a quick look through just now and I can't find it.

Thanks guys, unsure if you can see it in the photo but it is badly cracked along a few edges so would prefer to replace it for piece of mind.

Yes the toilet will have to come out.
It is a one piece unit so all of it comes out at once. It is only held in place by the screws in the base,access through the cassette door.
The flush water entry point door assembly must also be removed, and resealed on refitting.

I replaced my shower tray, a few months ago, with a remanufactured grp one that was a similar shape to yours.

My toilet is the same as yours. It has to come out. Once the cassette is removed there are 4 long screws holding it down - the rear two are at the ends of the runners and difficult to spot.

As has been mentioned, the flush filler has to come off too.

I removed the cassette door surround too, and found the internal wooden frame was as rotten as a pear!

The actual floor under the shower tray was vinyl, the same as the rest of the van, and in good condition.

The new (remanufactured) shower tray wasn't a great fit. It needed some settling and is a little warped due to the moulding process, but is significantly more substantial than the old one.

It also needed a sliver of the old tray!

It's not too bad a job to do, though, so good luck.

Depending on the results of the service next month I'll be replacing my shower tray. Are they usually resting on the floor or is there a gap between them and the floor? If there's a gap would it be advisable to support the base and if so what with?

Just did mine yesterday and yes, other than a 10mm sheet of foam under the "standing area", it was lying on the floor. A relatively simple swap. Just make sure you separate the silicone bead from the edge of tray and wall board paper and go slowly, it all comes up ok. Re-sealed water inlet and seals around the cassette door, new silicone around toilet and tray and all good.
