I had the same in our Bailey Ranger ~GT60 (2009)
Bailey refused to admit to fault as the Warranty had expired !!
Cost to refit by a registered Mobile fitter £400+ !
I purchased some White Duck Tape and sealed the crack with overlapping lengths - result Perfic!
Incidentally we do not store anything n the shower compartment whilst travelling, so this could not be the cause.
I believe that there is a design fault on this rear corner as there I no support behind.
Hello Hovis,
If the caravan manufacturers guarantee has expired even by a minute, The manufacture is perfectly and legitimately able to refuse the claim. That is becasue you have a separate contract with the manufacturer for it and once the contact expires that is it..
But you have totally separate contract with your seller which is automatically enacted as soon as you make any retail purchase. This contract is set out in LAW and if you purchased before October 2015, it wold have been the Sale of Goods Act and post OCt 2015, its now the Consumer Rights Act.. Your rights under these acts apply specifically between you and your seller, and cannot be usurped or suppressed by the manufacturer. In simple terms both SoGA and CRA give you rights for faulty goods for up to 6 years from the date of accepting the goods.
In this instance for example, if you were able to show there was a design or manufacturing fault, or the product was not as durable as a reasonable person would expect, then the seller wold have some liability to put things right - without reference to the manufacturer's view on the subject.
If more consumers were fully aware of their rights and used them properly, sellers would be a lot more careful about what they sold.
