Hi
I am looking to purchase a lighter lifting jack for my caravan. I have already got a Kojack which is rather heavy as I am trying to get lighter equipment.
Can anyone tell me if there is one out there, I know that Kojack do a lighter one but would like something even lighter. I have looked on Alko Kober website and they have some for sale around the £100 price mark.
If anyone has any ideas I would be please if you could give me some advice.
thanks
David

If there is one thing you do not want to compromise it is the jack.
The Al-Ko sidelift is not a good jack, unless you have the turning power in your wrists of a heavyweight lifter.
When you jack a van you are taking half the weight of the van and for safety you need as beefy a jack as you can get.
If the van comes off the jack, or it collapses, it takes no prisoners and could kill you.
Perhaps it would be worth looking at the latest aluminium trolley jacks, very strong but lighter than their steel counterparts.

I have just bought a Bailey Unicorn Barcelona 1756 Kg twin. It came with the 2 tonne Side lift jack. I have used it to fit my AL-KO wheel locks. I reversed back to centralise the first one and then jacked the rear wheel to fit the rear one.The reversing back to fit the front one is very time consuming. My question is dose anyone use their side lift Jack to lift both wheels clear of the ground and then fit the pair of AL-KO wheel locks, and is the side jack stable when lifting both axles.
I was able to turn the jack handle OK, I agree it is a bit difficult.

I can appreciate your concerns,But having tried bottle jacks, electric scissor jacks, trollyjacks,& the ALKO jack I finally bought the older type Kojack & discarded my car jack as the Kojack serves both purposes. personally I would go for the Kojack light, these jacks do the business, are safe & easier to use than all the others
you could try a cheap bottle jack used in cojunction with the fitted kojack brackets.but you would need these if you wanted to sell the kojack,& would still need to carry your car jack

thanks to everyone for your replies. I think I will keep my Kojack as it seems to be the safest bet. We have used it only once to level a caravan and was no trouble whatsoever.
Heavy or not it does the job!!
thanks again
