Single or stable door?

Looking at some very expensive models on seasonals there appears to be an Abundance of solid single doors. I’ve always had the stable door type. Have I missed something🤔🤔🤔

Possibly but I see they all use the same Hartal lock which as we all know is rubbish

I don't think your flyscreen will work on half a door either.

Personally, I never liked the stable door, I think the solid door adds much cleaner lines and allows for a nicer window in the door.

Had single doors and stable doors, whichever came with the van. Always used the stable door as a single door, so not much point for us. But we didn’t have small children to contain. Also our dog is ridiculously obedient ( nothing to do with me, she just is!) and wouldn’t go through a door without permission. Hence we are not the target demographic for a stable door.

Cant be doing with letting the flies (or mozzies) in, with half a door open. Luckily, our new 'van has a full door by accident as opposed to choice, with a better window as previously mentioned by thingy.

We have had both and on balance would prefer the stable door if we had the choice but it would not be a deal breaker to get a single piece one. We have had a screen for a stable door but it was a pull down one for the drop to the bottom section.

Prefer stable door as Springers are “ blind” to a flyscreen when a rabbit appears on your pitch.

Before we discovered luxury and tented, we had a Staffy shaped hole in our tent flysheet-rabbits at 5am! Thankfully he doesn't bark! A barn door is therefore better-he'd go straight through the fly screen!

I've had a solid door now for three years and see zero advantages with it, much prefer the stable door where you have options on how you want to use it.

Unfortunately Swift no longer offer a stable door, but i was keen to have an HT model, which I'm extremely happy with.

We also miss the clear shower room window, given the choice we would happily pay extra for both.

Its horses for courses surely. I can well understand if you had a dog that might hurl itself straight through a screen door, so half and half could be a benefit. I was very happy when, by pure luck, our new van had a full door. Otherwise, errant dogs aside, i can see no plusses to having one whatsoever

In 40 years I’ve never had the option. They’ve all been stable doors. I just wondered why the manufacturers are switching🤔 Cost saving perhaps🤔 Maybe there should be an option for us punters

One advantage is being able to let some air in without unduly cooling the interior, another is allowing cooking smells to escape, we don't have dogs but there is also a obvious advantage again, a single door is simply a cost saving same as a single piece door with no window.

Finally it handy being able to look out when washing the pots or cooking.

We had a stable door on our sterling Eccles Jewel, crackin little van. The last two have had full doors, never really noticed any problem as both of our dogs are on leads all the time, enough to be in the van or outside. I did notice that with the full door open, our oven a times would have bad burning flames. If it' windy outside.

One of our personal requirements for our new van was a single piece door.

Never been a fan of the stable door, or the flimsy plastic hinge that joins the two pieces together!

I have heard of the door trim on a Coachman. 2014 onwards the decal trim delaminating, but the doors are not made by Coachman. Ours is fine.
