site electric charges and vat reduction

having booked summer 2009 holiday on a cornish site recieved receipt for deposit to find vat reduced on dogs,cars,people,every thing except electric.on querying this was told they are not obliged to reduce this, surely they also have a vat reduction and should pass it on to the customer.has any one else come across this

Hi Gillian, VAT on Electricity and Gas utilites is only charged at 5% and therefore there is no reduction to be made as this rate remains unchanged.

They are not allowed to sell elec, that is unless they have a licence.

You will not find any charges on any invoice, they get round it by selling you a service pitch or pitch with hook up, same with water.

My parents had a van set up all the year, the site owner installed a hook mbox outside, and then installed a meter, they were then charged the SWALEC rate plus 10%, talk about ripm off.
