Do campsites in uk all generally sell gas? (bottles etc) ?

No, not all.

Most sites do exchange Calor Gas.

The sites run by the two major Clubs stock calor gas propane and butane as do most large commercial ones.
cs and cls tend not to do gas.

I just refilled my Safefill bottle on the way to the site on Friday at a great cost of £10.12p ...

More often than not I go to local builders merchants or hardware stores which are often less expensive than on-site lpg supplies.
