According to the map on pages 22/23 in the new March edition of PC,there appears to be a new to me Caravan site by the side of the River Esk in the centre of Whitby.Not been for a few years,but sure that used to be the Fish Market,pitches might be on the small side.

I noticed that too, however if it exists it will be very handy for the Magpie chippie!
However was a very good article. At the risk of going slightly off topic there is most summers a temporary site in the grounds of the school in Whitby on the A171 Mayfield Road - don't know who runs it. So it could just be a bad typo, locating that one. Alternatively isn't there a site up by the Abbey?
 
There is a site not too far from the Abbey, Whitby Holiday Park, but is mostly statics. I've never visited the site so cannot say how good it is, we've only driven by.
