Sites in the lakes

could anyone recommend any child friendly sites in the Lakes, decent play area etc. I'd prefer quieter ones without clubhouse or bars ( I take my own bar ) thanks.

The CC site Lowe Park Wood Nr Kendal, a lovely site set in woodland and the kids will love it, especially if they're into wild life. Coniston and Windermere are just a short drive away. We was there a couple of weeks ago and managed a boat trip on Windermere, fantastic as this was the first time at the lakes. We cant waite to go back but please book in advance because it can get really busy. Having said that it will not cramp your style because most of the pitches are quite secluded. Good luck.

riverside, higher bentham near kirby lonsdale. excellent site for children. near waters edge for fishing and bathing. new top notch shower block and toilets, nice big play area. small shop on site but onlt 10 mins walk to town,

very clean looked after site.

Park Coppice in Coniston (CC site) was wonderful. Some of the pitches tricky to manoevre into, but easy when we unhitched and spun the van with the help of fellow caravanners. Take insect repellant!

try Butter Flowers at Haverigg S/Cumbria, it`s on the coast about half an hour from Windermeer and Coniston water, great beach, play area and indoor pool, also great views of the Cumbrian mountains the Harbour hotel does good and affordable food (5 minute walk) to book phone 01229772880, it`s a great area but then I live here

Has anyone been to the cc&cc site in Widermere? We have booked for October, we will be taking 4 kids with us, any comments will be much appreciated.

Skelwith Fold at Ambleside. Great site, lovely area, nice playground for kids, and best of all, you get to pick your own pitch.

(Need steel pegs for awnings though)
